Support for Children & Adolescents
Children (4 to 12 years)

Dr. Henderson is able to offer support to children through a variety of approaches including Parent Support, Play-Based Therapy, and Talk Therapy. Dr. Henderson has a wide repertoire of skills pulling from a variety of clinical applications and practice. Dr. Henderson’s goals are to help you and your child settle into a caring therapeutic environment where you feel heard, to support you as a parent in understanding and responding to your child’s needs, and to facilitate an improved level of functioning and general well-being.

Adolescents (13 to 18 years)

Dr. Henderson is able to offer adolescents Talk Therapy and Parent Consultation. Dr. Henderson works towards creating an emotionally safe and supportive environment, providing nurturing support and intuitive guidance to help young people navigate the wide array of hurdles and difficulties they face, and encouraging adolescents to gain independence with a healthy focus on connection and relationships.

Some common reasons for referring a child or adolescent include:

  • Heightened anxiety or the onset of mood-related difficulties
  • Behaviorally hard to manage
  • Refusing to attend school or experiencing significant upset attending school
  • Getting into trouble at school, regardless of the consequences
  • Aggressive behavior
  • Conflict with parents
  • Conflict or difficulties with peers
  • Experiences with bullying
